Discussing AI and the Future of Infrastructure Governance | Columbia–Northwestern–Vanderbilt Faculty Workshop

Today, I was pleased to serve as a discussant for Qaraman M. Hasan’s paper, “AI and the Future of Infrastructure Governance,” during the Columbia–Northwestern–Vanderbilt Energy, AI, and Space Faculty Workshop, within the track on AI, Data Centers, and Energy Systems.

The full post, together with a selection of my relevant publications and research on these topics, is available here: https://paolofarah.wordpress.com/2026/10/21/discussing-ai-and-the-future-of-infrastructure-governance-columbia-northwestern-vanderbilt-faculty-workshop/

The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for interdisciplinary exchange on the intersection of artificial intelligence, energy and environmental law, administrative decision-making, and infrastructure governance. My participation also connected closely with my ongoing research on AI Governance, epistemic governance, particularly questions concerning the role of law in structuring knowledge and expertise, managing technological uncertainty, and ensuring democratic accountability and meaningful public participation.

Many thanks to Hari Osofsky, J.B. Ruhl, Michael Gerrard, Michael Vandenbergh, and Emily Hildreth for organizing this excellent workshop series, and to Columbia University, Northwestern University, and Vanderbilt University for supporting this collaborative scholarly initiative.
