Serving the AALS Community in Energy, Natural Resources, and Environmental Law
I am delighted to continue serving for a second year as a member of the Executive Committee of the American Association of Law Schools (AALS) Section on Natural Resources and Energy Law.
I am also grateful to join and to have been appointed Treasurer of the AALS Section on Environmental Law, beginning this year.
The AALS Headquarter is based in Washington D.C. I look forward to working with colleagues across both Sections as we prepare for the 2027 AALS Annual Meeting in New York City (January 5–8, 2027), organized around the timely and important theme and under the Presidency of Danielle M. Conway Dean, Penn State Dickinson Law:
“Emancipate. Academic. Freedom.”
At a moment when institutions of higher education face increasing political polarization, ideological pressures, and challenges to academic freedom, the 2027 Annual Meeting invites the legal academy to reflect on the role of law schools in safeguarding intellectual inquiry, advancing knowledge, and supporting the public good.
The theme encourages meaningful engagement with questions of academic freedom, democratic values, institutional resilience, solidarity, and the responsibilities of legal education in a rapidly changing world.
I am particularly excited to contribute to the development of programs and discussions that explore the intersections of environmental law, energy law, sustainability, governance, technology, and the broader challenges facing higher education and the legal profession.
I look forward to collaborating with colleagues from across the legal academy in preparation for what promises to be an important and thought-provoking Annual Meeting.
