With 100 participants now registered, today’s conversation will bring into dialogue two important recent books that approach contemporary environmental law and governance from complementary perspectives:
Teaching Environmental Law in Context — Rebecca M. Bratspies and Carmen G. Gonzalez (Edward Elgar, 2026)
Comparative Environmental Law — edited by Tseming Yang, Anastasia Telesetsky, and Sara K. Phillips (Edward Elgar, 2025)
Rebecca Bratspies, Carmen G. Gonzalez, Tseming Yang, and Sara K. Phillips will join the live conversation, with Mekonnen Ayano and Chinonso Tansi Anozie serving as discussants. I will chair and moderate the webinar and will also participate in the substantive discussion.
We will explore how context and comparison can deepen our understanding of environmental law, with particular attention to environmental justice, climate and energy governance, sustainability, legal education, human rights, Indigenous perspectives, scientific expertise, natural-resource governance, institutional capacity, accountability, participation, and the rule of law.
