The webinar will provide an opportunity to:
• introduce the mandate, objectives, and broader rationale of the newly established Study Group;
• discuss the principal themes and global challenges that may structure its programme of work;
• explain the membership process and next steps;
• receive comments, suggestions, and perspectives from colleagues around the world; and
• begin identifying possible areas for research, collaboration, future webinars, conferences, consultations, and publications.
The webinar is intended as an opportunity for consultation and intellectual exchange before the formal membership of the Study Group is finalized in accordance with ILA procedures.
Given the very significant number of expressions of interest already received, this webinar is not an additional call for expressions of interest, and colleagues who have already submitted one do not need to submit another. Participation in the webinar, or the prior submission of an expression of interest, does not in itself constitute appointment as a formal member of the Study Group.
At the same time, one of the objectives is to begin developing a broader intellectual community around the Study Group, extending beyond its eventual formal membership and creating opportunities for engagement in future webinars, consultations, conferences, research activities, and publications.
